AdvanceTrack Shows A Line Of Severe Storms In Our Area Tonight

The data continues to roll in this evening and I have the latest run from AdvanceTrak. Before we dive into that, please remember we are all in a slight risk of severe weather and a Severe T-Storm Watch is in effect for Lawrence, Jackson, and Jennings counties in Indiana until 11 pm. This will likely not be the only watch tonight.

Warnings

Storms are going strong in central Illinois right now and some are already severe. This is what is moving in our direction.

AdvanceTrak Timeline

As I stated earlier, this setup does have the wind energy, instability, and forcing to support organized severe weather. Hail and damaging winds appear to be the primary threat as the line moves across our area. The west and northwestern part of our area have the best chance of severe weather, but the storms should hold together through much of our area. The SPC risk is well placed and appropriate. AdvanceTrak confirms my timeline and here is the latest. Keep in mind the timestamp is on the top right part of each image.

marc, does the wind energy after 11pm give the storms more energy (more severe) vs lower wind energy coming thru at sunset with warmer temps? or does it equate to be about the same?

chrisb, there is no real equation for this. It comes down to the forecasters skill to be honest on each event.

Marc, what are the dark purples shown on the AdvanceTrak around 1am west of Louisville? Jay n Georgetown

Jay, those are deep cores and strong storms.

Thanks Marc~y Marc. That's what I was afraid of. Ill be watching these blogs all night.

I love your blog, Marc. Thank you for all you do!
