US Drought Monitor Assessment Posted For Our Area!

The latest US Drought Monitor assessment came out today and takes into account the rain we saw earlier this week. The heaviest rain on the last storm was in southern KY and that has removed the drought entirely from southern Kentucky. Here is the latest.

US Drought Monitor

  • Louisville remains in the abnormally dry condition.
  • Drought conditions are gone in half of Bullitt, Nelson, Washington, and Marion counties in Kentucky.
  • Most of southern Indiana remains in the severe drought.

We have seen a dramatic reduction in drought conditions since the remnants of Isaac got in our area. At this point, none of the rain I have forecasted in the next 7 days will be "drought buster" rains for the rest of our area but southern Indiana should get the best rain from Friday's system.
