Did You Know A Tornado Touched Down Early Sunday?

Very early Sunday morning, the NWS has confirmed that a tornado touched down in the western part of Kentucky. This was the weak line of showers that moved through our area late morning. Here is the damage survey from the NWS...

MAYFIELD KENTUCKY TORNADO.

* EVENT DATE.........SUNDAY OCTOBER 14, 2012

* EVENT TIME.........6:35 AM CDT

* EVENT LOCATION.....1/4 MILE SOUTHEAST OF THE HIGHWAY 80 AND
   PURCHASE PARKWAY INTERSECTION TO 1/2 MILE NORTHEAST OF THE
   HIGHWAY 45 AND 121 INTERSECTION.

* PEAK WIND..........105 MPH

* AVG. PATH WIDTH....130 YARDS

* PATH LENGTH........2.25 MILES

* INJURIES...........1

* FATALITIES.........NONE

* DAMAGE DETAIL......MINOR DAMAGE TO TWO DOZEN HOMES...MOSTLY TO
   SHINGLES...SIDING...AND FASCIA. MODERATE DAMAGE (END OF ROOF
   BLOWN OFF) TO ONE BUSINESS NEAR HIGHWAY 80 AND PURCHASE
   PARKWAY...OTHERWISE MINOR DAMAGE TO SEVERAL OTHER BUSINESSES.
   ABOUT TEN VEHICLES SHIFTED AROUND IN A PARKING LOT.
