Severe Storms Take Aim

From Jude Redfield...

Severe weather concern grows this evening as a cold front moves in. I do expect a line of storms to form with scattered severe activity. The primary threat will be damaging straight-line wind. IF YOU HAVE PLANS TO BE AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY THIS EVENING PLEASE KEEP UPDATED WITH THE RADAR BETWEEN 4PM & 8PM...SEVERE WEATHER IS LIKELY TO EXIST NEARBY. Please see future radar images below to help gauge the expected timing.

Storms Take Aim

From Jude Redfield...

Clouds will be thick today and tomorrow. Scattered showers and storms take aim in an on and off fashion. If you are craving sunshine you'll have to wait until Friday for the brighter skies. As the rain hits in waves we expect plenty of time that will be totally dry and calm in between waves. By tomorrow night a large section of Kentuckiana ends up with .50" - 1.5" soakers. Locally higher amounts will lead to an isolated flood potential. A few storms will huff and puff, but at this point we don't expect more than isolated severe storms over the next 36 hours.

WKUlunge2

Just because the sun isn't real bright right now we still have enough UV radiation getting through this time of the year that a sun burn can happen.

Rainamounts

The start of the truck series tomorrow night could have lingering rain/storms near Kentucky Speedway. This will be a close call.  The day on Friday looks hot and humid, but dry. Unfortunately a few storms develop Friday evening along a cold front. Some of the storms could be severe. This is a situation to monitor for sure! The rain chance Friday evening will range from 30% - 40% at the raceway. The weather jackpot is hit on Saturday for the Quaker State 400!!! In fact, this could be the best weather we've ever had for the Quaker State 400 race. Saturday evening will have temps falling through the 70s with low humidity in Sparta.

Hottest Air Of The Season...We Are Looking At 100 Degrees Possibly

JudeDailySpecial
After the light showers that were few and far between this morning all of the talk turns to the heat wave building in this week. As the wind blows in from the southwest so does the hottest air of the season. We have hit 98 twice so far, but I think we do a hair better than that over this 3 day stretch. I do think a few areas in Kentuckiana will actually hit 100 on Friday. We are looking at just about everyone in the 97-99 range Thursday - Saturday. Perfect pool weather on this unofficial last weekend of Summer.
