Messy Monday Possible With Rain & Storms...

The heat and humidity climb a little bit higher today as numbers top out near 90. There is a broken line of storms in Illinois that seems to be having trouble holding together. That's why an isolated shower or storm is possible north of the river during the afternoon, but a majority stay completely rain-free. I just don't think we will end up seeing as much blue sky as we did Saturday with more clouds spilling in...

A decent shot for rain and storms hits overnight and into Monday. Keep the rain gear handy, but don't expect a washout either. Our best chance for rain will occur Sunday night/early Monday morning as a weakening batch of storms slide in from the northwest. The behavior of this round of rain will ultimately determine how the rest of Monday unfolds. While rain chances are lower later in the day, scattered storms are still possible. Don't be too worried about severe weather as the risk is rather low. However, if we get a little more sunshine, a few storms might be on the stronger side. Heavy rain, intense lightning and gusty winds are the main threats...

As a cold front moves in Monday evening, cooler air and lower humidity will follow. For August standards, this will be a nice break from the heat and humidity as highs top out in the upper 70's and low 80's. Overnight low temperatures in the 50's and 60's should make for several cool, crisp mornings. Jeremy Kappell will be in tonight with the very latest.
