Strong Storms Then Snow Chances

From Jude Redfield...

Not much active weather on the docket through the weekend, but next week sure does drop the hammer. Enjoy quiet conditions through Monday because it is on like Donkey Kong after that. Tuesday morning is the beginning of the transition to winter. At this point expect temps in the 60s around sunrise on Tuesday and then we tumble through the 40s Tuesday afternoon. Upon arrival of the cold front expect heavy rain and gusty storms. Some of the storms will be strong. This will be the heaviest rain since the middle of November. Confidence is high for widespread rain Tuesday...so high we've placed an 80% - 90% 4 days out.

Temps

It doesn't appear enough instability will be in place for widespread severe weather Tuesday, but an isolated severe storm can't be ruled out. A few strong storms with wind gusts to 45mph look likely as the cold front blasts through.

TempPlunge

After we get this rain out of our system it's HELLO COLD! The pattern by the end of next week into the weekend will be perfect for well below average temps. Many days will have highs in the 30s.

Rainamounts

Listen up snow lovers! We have a few chances with this particular pattern. I see nothing indicating a big one with this shot of cold, but a clipper system or two will shoot down the pipeline.  This would lead to scattered flurries/snow showers/light snow at times in the Ohio and Tennessee Valley. It's impossible to give an exact day or time this far out, but this type of pattern usually cranks up some light snow.

RadarUpdate

I would expect some festive, minor accumulations in the region during this cold spell, but  significant snow just doesn't look like an option at anytime over the next 8 days. -Jude Redfield-
